A white teacup rimmed with gold has a bit of transparent brown liquid pooled at the bottom. There is a blue flower in the tea. Beneath the cup is a plain, tiny saucer. An old book lay open nearby. The weathered pages are elegantly attached to a stitched spine. Atop the open tome lay a small pair of metal rectangular reading glasses.

There is a cobblestone path that cuts between two lines of buildings. The buildings are brown brick with lanterns standing outside the front doors. Each building is uniform. Snow is falling and coating the roofs and ground.

Kyle Winchester Writes:
The BL Writer Who Dabbles in Fiction

An artist, no matter their craft, must rely on their talents and believe their true grit and determination will help them achieve their dreams. Any words I write are genuinely from my heart. AI has no place in literature, except to provide ideas and editorial assistance. The technology was made to aid in our development; it was never meant to take away our special traits. Any and all art that is produced by AI on my site will be labeled as such and their original platforms will be mentioned.Ā

Interesting way to start--I'm aware, however the fact must be stated. I will concede that I use art generated by AI. I am no artist and will not sell art under the guise of talent I don't possess.Ā

BL, or Boy's Love, is the genre I put my heart and soul into. I believe the United States has only begun to put into perspective the romance and eroticism gay stories have to offer. I watch shows geared toward the LGBT community and more often than not, gay men are either portrayed as overly flamboyant or placed as side characters who are disposable in the background. As a gay trans-man, I couldn't quite picture what a relationship with another man would look like. I had seen plenty of relationships before, but I never found myself comfortable in one after transitioning. What gay man would want a guy who was missing, for lack of a better word, a cock?Ā

It wasn't until I started watching and reading BL stories that I realized romance between two men is no different than any straight relationship I'd observed. Gay men can be hunters, artists, gritty construction workers, CEOs...Any subject you put your mind to, they're all there. Not every gay man in the world is the type of person who'd throw their scarf over their shoulder, clap their hands and scream, "Yaahs queen!" It's a wonderful thing knowing that you can be whoever you want even when the stereotype says it doesn't make sense. By the way, queens and kings alike, you keep slaying. There isn't anything wrong with a bit of pizazz added to the world.

I dabble in fiction and poetry, but mainly I write BL. Until I lose interest, that's the story I'm sticking to. Most of my short scenes are erotic; usually a setup scene precedes them. I want to know my characters before tossing them into bed with each other. It's only fair that I take them out for a drink first. All of my stories have titles that correspond with their sequels, one of which is the "Baby Boy" series. Will they ever be finished? I'll let you know when I know.

I'm no saint nor will I claim to be. Everything I write is raw, bred from the foundation of my being. My only hope is that no one--no corporate entity, fan, editor, or what have you--influences my writing in ways that take away the true identity my work conveys.

I hope something I've said or written rings true for someone. Writing is my passion and I plan on doing this for the rest of my life.
